large diversity of the provencal patrimony leaves us the freedom to choose
some unusual visits, depending on your tastes and on the season, for example:
we could observe during winter the 340 species of birds from Camargue, we
could enjoy eating sea-urchins on the Carry harbour in February, we could
visit troglodytic places, ancient stone quarries; you will discover the
provencal christmas traditions. We could also walk around, just to check the
beauty of landscapes; after going to the market in the village if you feel
like it we could cook together some local dishes. If you appreciate ancient
history and way of life we will search for castles, fountains, pigeon
houses, bell towers. I will tell you the “marseillais cottage civilization”.
We could walk on the steps of famous local people such as Pagnol, Cézanne,
Van Gogh or Giono; or rediscover ancient professions : saunier (to collect
sea salt) ocriers (to extract ocers) sagneurs (to collect reed).
taste candled fruits, truffles, lavander honey, marseille’s pastis, goat
cheese from Rove, marseille’s chichifrégi, aix’s calissons, cheese from
Banon and, of course, provencal wines, and thousand of other things...
think of it:
in winter, spring and fall, there is always a lot of things to do as well!
